Tom Vachet - Elite Trainer

Recently we had the opportunity to connect with Tom Vachet to learn more about his barefoot training techniques. An article in the September, 2009 issue of Men’s Health Magazine credits Tom as the “the trainer who resurrected Derek Fisher’s career”.

In the headline, he is described as the “Muscle Whisperer”, a humorous reference to the popular television program, The Dog Whisperer. In fact, Tom is a respected Medical Advocate & Sports Conditioning Expert, who has leveraged a unique blend of education and experience to help over one-hundred elite and professional athletes from around the world to either overcome injuries, or improve in their sport.

In his role as a Medical Advocate, Tom is a skilled and tenacious representative for his clients. He understands how to navigate the often-intimidating, and subtly political, system of hospitals, clinics, and doctor’s offices, in order to secure the best possible medical outcome for his clients. This includes ensuring that his clients are assessed by, and receive care from, the most competent physicians in the required specialties, as well as other relevant clinicians, regardless of team affiliation. Equally important, Tom closely manages the recovery process, so that his clients are assured to receive the comprehensive program of rehabilitation necessary to avoid a re-injury, or a secondary injury, often resulting from a premature return to sport.

As a Conditioning Expert, Tom is an outcome-driven conditioning coach, and creator of the high-intensity, CHAOS, Accelerated Performance Training™ system, which is proven to provide rapid, measurable athletic improvement. This comprehensive program focuses on developing core strength and endurance, balance, stability, and flexibility, in order to maximize the client’s ability to express power efficiently. In addition, there is considerable attention paid to maintaining biomechanical wellness, essential to injury prevention, as well as integrating proper nutrition, smart supplementation, preventative body work, and sports psychology into every program. All of these serve to facilitate a client’s ability to maximize their full potential as an athlete.

Tom enjoys writing, public speaking, and other opportunities to promote an enlightened perspective on athletic development and injury prevention. He has authored articles for prestigious publications as Men’s Health Magazine, and has been the invited speaker to several prominent events, including the 2008 meeting of the NBA Players’ Association. Although he works primarily to assist individual professional athletes, Tom also has a strong interest in youth sports. As a result, he has developed programs for injury management and conditioning for several highly regarded high-school and college teams.

Hey, a big shout out to all the folks at ZEM!

Thanks for the cool blog entry. You guys are doing a great job with a product that I love to train with personally, and that I recommend to all my clients.

Whether they are NBA, NHL, NFL, or AVP athletes, I believe barefoot training is enormously beneficial. I have trained my clients in that environment for ten years. More importantly, I can honestly state my “claim to fame”, that no client of mine has suffered a serious injury in sport – ever – after having undergone my program. I believe a big part of that success is the barefoot piece.
